Free Yoga, Zumba & More!

WHERE: The Gridiron, 122 S. Michigan St.


DTSB has partnered with local fitness organizations to provide a free outdoor summer fitness program at the Gridiron in downtown South Bend every Saturday morning to encourage healthy living. These free classes, begin at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m., include a mix of yoga, Zumba, Hip Hop, Grit, Barre, and more.

All classes are held on the Gridiron in downtown South Bend, weather permitting. 

In the event of rain, classes will be moved to the 5th floor of the Leighton Parking Garage. Check the DTSB Facebook page for updates.

Classes are led by professional instructors from local health and fitness centers, as well as independent instructors.

Participants should dress in appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring adequate fluids. Free parking is available on the street and in the Leighton Parking Garage.

 2021 Summer Fitness Series Information

We will continue to be implementing safety procedures at our events, although we are able to relax our guidelines a little from last summer. Here are the COVID-19 protocols that will be in place for this year's Summer Fitness Series:

  • Participants will need to sign a waiver once per summer. This year, in order to speed up the check-in process and make it more contact-free, you can sign the online waiver using the button below or by clicking here  We will have a print-out of participants who signed the online waiver prior to 5:00 p.m. the Friday before each class. If you are not able to sign the waiver by then, you will need to sign one at the event.

  • Class size will be limited to 80 participants a class, and participants will be asked to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from other participants. 

  • Advanced registration is no longer required, and the 80 spots will be first-come, first serve.

  • We will be following CDC Guidelines on mask usage: vaccinated participants will not be required to wear a mask, but mask usage will be recommended for non-vaccinated participants.

  • Participants experiencing any symptoms of illness should not attend this event.

  • Mat rentals will not be available this summer.

  • Hand sanitizer and bottled water will be made available.

Beacon Health & Fitness (111 W. Jefferson Blvd.) is a medically-based, full-service fitness facility located in the heart of downtown South Bend. Their group exercise program includes a wide array of classes such as yoga, grit, water in motion, pilates and much more.

Bend Yoga offers several varieties of both indoor and outdoor yoga classes and a meditation room. They are located in the Hibberd Building (321 S. Main St.)

CitiWalk - This free program meets in the lobby of Beacon Health & Fitness (111 W. Jefferson Blvd.) but is open to members and non-members alike! These 60-minute walks take place every Monday at noon and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with a new and interesting stop each week.

Kroc Center (900 W. Western Ave.) offers group fitness classes that are designed to promote a fun workout experience with professional instructors and energetic classmates. They have over 15,000 square feet of state-of-the-art weight training equipment and cardiovascular machines.  A sample of the Kroc Center’s group fitness programs include: Zumba, Indoor Cycling, Aqua Aerobics, Power Kick, Yoga, and Pilates.

Therapeutic Indulgence (903 E. Jefferson Blvd.) is downtown South Bend’s premiere wellness center specializing in massage therapy, yoga, reflexology, skincare, waxing, and medical hypnosis. Our mission is to empower our clients with tools to help them achieve their wellness goals both at our spa and in their everyday lives.  We believe that by helping our clients achieve wellness, we help our community, because a community that is healthy, is a community that thrives.

Yoga for Everybody takes place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Oliver Gardens (808 W. Washington St. - by the History Museum) 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. May through September. All levels are welcome at these community yoga classes. Bring your own mat/towel/blanket or practice right in the grass.
